Praying with Icons – Exhibition
The Exhibition was very successful. Thank you to all who supported it – by attending, contributing or sponsoring the Exhibition. It has raised the awareness of the work of the iconographers, of St Seraphim’s Trust and introduced icons to many people.
The plans for the future are to set up a similar display on a smaller scale at St Seraphim’s to inform people on how to read an icon. Funds will be needed for this to be accomplished. If you would like to support this project please see the front page of our website – Get Involved.
Copies of the Exhibition Catalogue are still available. This contains 43 pages of colour photographs and text including prayers. It tells the story of the iconographers, many examples of their work both in churches, chapels and privately owned. It also looks at what an icon is, the liturgical importance of iconography, and the techniques used. It includes is an illustrated essay placing icons in their historical context. If you would like a copy sent to you, please contact St Seraphim’s Trust – a suggested donation of £3.00 would include postage.
Postcards, and other cards were also produced for the Exhibition, they are on sale in the porch of St Seraphim’s.
